Where does it come from?

432 Hz Has been with us long before science figured it out. Famous composers like Mozart and Verdi used it, and the legendary Stradivarius violins were found to be tuned at 432 Hz. Even the majority of instruments we found in ancient Greek sites, as well as prehystoric Egypt, were tuned to the Earth's vibration.

When taking a look at Eastern cultures we find that singing bowls used by tibetan monks are also harmonic to the 432 Hz scale. It seems that 432 Hz is a tuning that feels natural to humans regardless of their place and time in history. Even today, musicians report positive effects from retuning to 432 Hz, such as better audience response and a more laid-back feel to their performances.

Prana Flutes: Crafted in 432Hz

Thanks to their meditative character, Native American Flutes are excellent instruments for playing 432 Hz music. Raffaello Hendrickx is a flutemaker crafting Native American Style Flutes, many in 432 Hz. Ever since he first came in contact with the Native American Flute he has been intrigued by 432Hz.

“First I was skeptical about it, saying it’s probably all in your head. But after playing dozens of flutes, and tuning even more to this “magical” frequency, I came to understand that it’s not in your head, but in your heart.

Even when I look at it from a logical viewpoint, most of my favourite flutes happen to be in 432Hz, and too often I notice when tuning a flute, that it is already in tune with 432 Hz. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence anymore to me. “

Tuning a Native American Flute to 432 Hz

432 Hz Native American flutes appear the same as their 440 Hz companions but they are slightly longer. In order to change the pitch, you would have to change the whole internal harmonic structure of the instrument and basically build a new flute. So they have to specifically be designed to play this way.

Thanks to their pentatonic tuning, Native American Flutes are very easy to play, and have an enchanting, calming and natural voice. Even someone who has never played music before can easily learn how to ¬master them.
