When I was a student, the environment was not even on the radar, nor discussed in any school. Although we have made significant progress since then, the world now has far more deadly chemicals then ever before. Plus, various industries, including the military, which is one of the world’s worst polluters, use their positions of power and money to corrupt and influence governments, regulators, and other decision makers.
Hence, the majority of citizens are at the mercy of large corporate monopolies, duopolies, or oligopolies. While it is overwhelming, it is not hopeless.
We as consumers have one big power left, which is our economic power.
Each one of us must commit to using our economic power and walk the talk.
Before you buy anything, ask yourself three simple questions:

In addition to using your economic power, this means, buying locally and supporting small businesses and small family farms. And, stop buying from large corporations.

Most people don’t realize that war and the hundreds of military bases around the world are the worst polluters with no oversight. The agriculture industry is another one of the largest polluter because of all the toxic chemicals they use. So, buy ORGANIC and be very selective with what foods you consume. And, that means not buying anything with added sugar, for starters, as sugar is one of the worst polluting crops of both the inner and outer environments.
