Rice Bran Arabinoxylan Boosts NK Cell Activity

RBAC (Daiwa Pharmaceutical Inc.,) is a nutritional supplement, sold as a functional food in Japan. RBAC is produced by hydrolysis of rice bran hemicellulose B cultivated on mushroom lentinan edodes, Coriolus Versicolor, Shiitake mycelia enzyme activity. It permits breaking of long polysaccharide molecules into small ones that are quickly absorbed in the small intestine in undigested form and enters into the blood to stimulate immune cells. RBAC taken orally as a food supplement has been shown to have dramatic effects in stimulating the body’s own defenses, such as T and B cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, and especially NK cell function.

FIGURE 2: NK Immuno-restoration with RBAC

In an in-vivo NK cell stimulation done with volunteers (without disease or cancer) it was demonstrated if we prescribe a daily 2 gr. dose of RBAC we can see a curve of NK cells increasing by about 60% after 2 weeks. It then started to decrease but remained at the same dose enhanced activity level which continued to rise at three to six months after treatment. In a number of cancers, the induction percentages were as follows (11):

Breast cancer: 154-333.2%

Prostate cancer: 174-385%

Leukemia: 100-2405%

MM (Multiple Myeloma): 100-537%:

Cervical cancer: 100-275%
