One morning, after we had moved to Mississippi, I walked out into our backyard and noted the incredible variety of bird songs vying for my attention. It was a symphony like none other I had ever heard before. I decided to record the sounds as best I could and use them for the background to play the harp along with on a recording. The results can be heard here:

I have a whole album of nature sounds titled, “All Nature Sings” and it can be purchased on my website:

I would like to invite you to challenge yourself to get out into the natural world more often. Maybe start with a commitment of 3 hours a week. Maybe all at one time or 3 different one-hour times throughout the week. Whatever works for your schedule. Take note of how it makes you feel. Focus more carefully on the sounds you will hear while out there. Compare it with how you feel in your normal routine environment and see if there are any changes that are positive for you.

When I am out in the natural world, I feel so much more alive. I also feel more relaxed. My mind clears and I can see things more clearly and weigh decisions more carefully. It is important for each of us to step off the merry-go-round from time to time, get a different perspective, and enjoy how bird songs improve health. Bird songs remind us of a more carefree existence and improve our health by connecting us to Nature.
