Love is Not Blind.

The Power of Sacred Relationships

By Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, M.D. M.D (H), N.D.(HC), D.D

The intimacy of sacred relationship takes us into the mystery of life. It is not about safety or security; it is about the alchemical process of spiritual transformation. The process of intimacy in sacred relationship takes us to the frontiers of human existence and brings us face-to-face with our angels and demons. It may activate our issues with our family of origin, our personal patterns, raise the question of who we are, our ability to express and receive love, and the question of what is the essence of spiritual life, and what does it mean to be a full human being.

The spiritual adventure of sacred relationship is a journey into the unknown. Opening up to the risk of intimacy is part of the evolution of human consciousness; it takes us to the frontier of human consciousness.

We are challenged to maintain and grow within a live, turned-on connection and love, while at the same time to free ourselves from old interpersonal or family of origin patterns of pain. In the process, we also need to create space for the other to exist and to thrive.
