In the running world there is one thing that everybody has in common, the will to go faster and faster every time. And without doubts there is no better place than the Berlin Marathon to achieve your goals and break personal records.

Last September the famous runner Eliud Kipchoge did something extraordinary.

While running the 45th edition of the event, he ran faster than ever and set a new astonishing world record. The old record was held by the Kenyan Dennis Kimetto with the impressive marc of 2h02m57s, but it seems that that made no difference for Kipchoge, who ran 78s faster than him, setting the new record at 2h01m39s. The last time the record was surpassed by more than 1 minute was back in 1969. Many runners see Kipchoge as a running God and think that that’s why he went so fast, but he actually says that such a good time wouldn’t have been possible without the perfect track.

The combination of cool conditions, flat well-maintained roads and well-drilled pace-makers who protect and guide each aspiring record-breaker with Germanic efficiency is for him what made it all possible. The first event was founded by a German baker named Horst Milde that united his love and passion for running and his baking business to create what is now considered one of the biggest running events in the world. Milde ran the route in a modest 2h44m53s on the men’s side. If you are into running and like to challenge yourself you should try the Berlin Marathon at least once in your lifetime. The beautiful view will compensate your work and the good time will motivate you to do even better. The next marathon will be held in the 28th September 2019, gathering thousands of runners willing to be the best.
