"Whisper of the Heart" is a heart-warming love story from the world-renowned Studio Ghibli made by Yoshifumi Kondo, which manages to bring a tear to the cheeks of even the coldest people. It has me even the second time again just as much, if not more, excited.
The story is about a book enthusiastic girl who realized during the semester break that all borrowed books she read so far have also been read by a boy called Seiji Amasawa. She paints in her thoughts again and again how could this boy be. One day, on the train, Shizuku notices a cat, leaving at the same station as she.
She realizes that the cat turns a street just outside the library and Shizuki decides to follow the cat until she stops at an old fashioned shop. In this shop she meets a nice old man.
When she leaves the shop, she meets Seiji Amasawa and he tells her that the nice man is his grandfather. Shizuku Tsukishima visits the two more often until Seiji and Shizuki get closer and closer. Since Seiji is a very gifted violin maker, he decides to do a two-month internship in Italy. When Seiji leaves, Shizuki decides to write a story about a cat-baron she discovered in the nice old man's shop in connection with Seiji and her, so she can tell if she has a talent like Seiji.
