Festliche Abendveranstaltungen ab 18 Uhr wie Bälle, Opern, Theater,
Konzerte oder auch Hochzeiten. Und wenn in der Einladung steht:
„Black tie“ oder „Cravate noire“.
WIE TRAGEN
Ein- oder zweireihig gerne mit Schalkragen (also einer ohne Ecken drin).
Kombiniert mit Weste oder Kummerbund, weißem Hemd und Schleife,
so jedenfalls die klassische Variante. Kreative Abwandlungen mit Spitzfasson
im Slim Fit Style mit schmaler Schleife gehen auch sehr in Ordnung.
FARBEN
Dunkel bis schwarz. Die Hose ist farblich auf den Smoking abgestimmt.
Und glänzt mit einem seidenen Galonband entlang der Naht.
FETTNÄPFCHEN-ALARM
Obacht: Hosen mit Aufschlag sind keine Smokinghosen. Und „Black tie“
bedeutet nicht, dass sie eine schwarze Krawatte tragen sollen.

When to wear
Formal evening events starting after 6 p.m. think balls, operas, the theatre,
concerts or even weddings. And when the words “black tie” or “cravate noire”
are on the invitation.
how to wear
Single- or double-breasted with a shawl collar (i.e. no peaks). Pair with a
waistcoat or cummerbund, white shirt and bow tie. That, at least, is the classic
look. Creative alternatives like in a slim fit style work today too.
What colour to wear
Dark or black. The trousers are colour-coordinated with the jacket and show off
a tuxedo stripe down the side seam.
What not to wear or do (blooper alert)
Beware: Don’t turn up wearing trousers with turn-ups! And btw: “black tie”
doesn’t mean you have to wear a black tie.
