These include critical thinking , cultural sensitivity , advanced reading and communication skills ( written and verbal ), and high-level analytical skills . More widely , the degree aims to develop your skills in communications and media research .
Common destinations for graduates include roles in communications and public relations , marketing and business research , management consulting , diplomacy and foreign affairs , tourism and hospitality , and academia .
This degree will also prepare you for careers in various sectors within and beyond the media industry . You ’ ll be able to design communication strategies , develop and implement communication policy plans , be a media spokesperson , and offer expert communication advice through industry and market research .

• Meet the English language requirements of the University . The following English proficiency tests are accepted :
– Monash English Bridging
– IELTS – Overall band score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
– Internet-based TOEFL / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition – Total score of 79 with 12 in Listening , 13 in Reading , 21 in Writing and 18 in Speaking
– Certified paper-based TOEFL – Total score of 550 with TWE of 4.5
– PTE – Overall score of 58 with no Communicative Skills lower than 50 .
– CAE , CPE or Linguaskill General – Minimum overall score of 176 with no skill score lower than 169 .
The above tests must be taken within 36 months prior to the course commencement date .
1 You can opt for the communications research thesis after completing 48 points in the course if you ’ ve achieved a minimum high distinction average and have the approval of the coordinator .
Completing this unit will fulfil the capstone requirement . 2 You may be eligible for an advanced entry point . 3 In equivalent Monash University grading scale terms , a 100 % scale where 50 % is a pass . 4 Applicants with an average between 50 % -60 % may be considered if they have at least five years of work experience in a relevant field , as required by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency . You ' ll be expected to provide a Curriculum Vitae and reference from your employer to be assessed for relevant work experience as part of the application process .
