Course structure
The course is structured into two parts:
Part A. Applied academic studies in clinical psychology( 72 credit points)
These studies will equip you to competently and ethically apply advanced psychological knowledge and skills to mental health challenges in the community. The research project will incorporate a critical review of the relevant literature and may take the form of a service evaluation, experimental study, systematic review or meta-analysis.
Part B. Clinical placement in psychology( 30 credit points)
These opportunities will enable you to apply theory to practice under the supervision of experienced clinical supervisors. You ' ll complete four clinical placements in different hospital or community settings with direct client contact, accumulating valuable professional experience.
Entry requirements
ELIGIBILITY
A Bachelor of Psychology( Honours)( or equivalent) accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council( APAC), or a qualification assessed as equivalent by APAC, completed within the last 10 years
Min requirements
WAM 70 or CGPA 3.1
Meet the English language requirements of the University( Monash English is not accepted). The following English proficiency tests are accepted:
• IELTS( Academic)/ IELTS One Skill Retake( Academic)/ IELTS Online – Overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Listening and a minimum of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking
• TOEFL iBT / TOEFL iBT Paper Edition 3 – A total score of 79 with minimum scores of 21 in Writing, 20 in Listening, 19 in Reading and 18 in Speaking
• Pearson Test of English( Academic) 3 – An overall score of 58 or above with Listening and Reading score not lower than 58 and Writing and Speaking score not lower than 50
• C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 3 – An overall score of 176 with Listening and Reading score not lower than 176 and Writing and Speaking score not lower than 169.
Tests must be taken within 24 months prior to course commencement.
Additional selection criteria
You must also:
• provide your latest CV
• provide two confidential referee reports completed by either: – two academics, one should preferably be your research supervisor; or – one academic and one professional referee, a person who has known you in a context other than academia
• pass an interview that consists of a multi-station assessment process.
Admission to this course is highly competitive and places are limited. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. The final ranked list of applicants will be determined based on academic merit, CV, referee reports, and performance at interviews.

You’ ll complete two internal clinical placements at our renowned Monash Fledge Clinical Psychology and Counselling Centre, where you’ ll gain hands-on experience in psychological assessments, career counselling, and individual or group therapy – all within a regulated professional environment.
Located on campus, the Centre serves the Monash community and the wider Malaysian public with quality care. It also supports clinical translational research and hosts executive education programs.
