hen people hear that I am a massage therapist who has been working with individuals during the childbearing year for more than 20 years, they often ask, “Is massage therapy safe during pregnancy?”
I always reply, “Is there something that you are concerned about?”
Then the questions come quickly. I will pause to listen to them, consider the underlying concerns and reply with an educated, evidence-informed response. I strive to demonstrate evidence-based education, assessment, treatment planning, and reassessment.
And so, I will focus on three primary concepts:
Anatomical Accommodations, Assessment, and Myths.
