ERM MR KE JDT In the 2018-2019 season, we offered 186 performances, 1,015 workshops, and 43 residencies. These had a positive impact on the lives of 53,409 students, participating artists, and teachers. Also, thanks to our funders, we were able to assist schools serving high need communities, allocating 55 subsidies representing $22,250.00 in subsidy dollars. Last year we established several innovative programs in schools settings that will continue in 2019/2020. In partnership with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board and Youth Ottawa, we co-developed Storytelling Through the Arts (SttARTS). In its second year, Grade 7 & 8 students from a selected number of schools will explore how to tell their own story, guided by MASC storyteller artist Jacqui Du Toit. They will also discover how to promote and organize an art event, guided by artistic mentor Jamaal Jackson Rogers of Youth Ottawa. We are pleased to continue our partnership with Chamberfest through Listen-Up. This community- based arts creation project will invite participating students to explore a subject through words, visual arts, movement, and music. During the Fall of 2019 and Spring of 2020, MASC artists Jamaal Jackson Rogers and Claudia Salguero will facilitate art workshops in poetry and visual arts to explore the theme of communication. Both projects, SttARTS and Listen Up! will culminate in final showcases where the students will have the oppurtunity to exhibit and perform their works and new skills developed during the two programs. 9 PD
