Observational Drawing
Create a 3D insect A class will choose to create
a butterfly*, honeybee or ladybug in this
workshop. Students will work with paper and
oil pastels or coloured pencils to create a
three dimensional insect, based on the true
anatomy of the insect. During the workshop,
the artist will explain the characteristics of
the insect and will guide students in learning
various techniques of colour application and
assembly. The butterfly becomes a mobile,
which can be manipulated like a marionette;
the ladybug explores origami techniques and
the honeybee focuses on cutting techniques
and assembly. Materials: $2.50 + HST per student

the subject encouraging
the students to observe

different parts of the plant or the animal.
Depending on the age of the group, the artist will
