School Program Since its inception, the core of MASC’s work is to offer arts education in schools. It is our firmly held belief that arts and cultural opportunities provide students with a different perspective and offer a set of new tools to respond creatively to challenges set before them. This sets the stage for children to embrace the rich diversity of our communities and enhances their understanding and appreciation of different art forms. What Programs Seniors Program MASC has been offering high-quality arts and cultural programming to seniors’ venues for 9 years. MASC is very pleased to continue to support programming in rural areas with subsidy funding we offer through the City of Ottawa Rural Initiatives funding. However, due to the loss of our long- term Anonymous Donor, there were significantly fewer subsidies available. Since more than 65% of our Seniors program bookings require subsidies, the number of bookings diminished in 2018-19. It is our intent to replace our Anonymous Donor funding and continue to grow our Seniors Program in 2019-20. In 2018-19, the MASC Seniors Program offered at 19 seniors’ venues across the city, to 1641 seniors. In all, MASC professional artists presented 29 performances, led 11 workshops and engaged seniors through in-depth projects through eight residencies.
