TECH MY TWO CENTS ON RIDING THE WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY WAVE We have reached a point where many brands and manufacturers are flooding the market with new technologies and devices, but it is not yet a mature market. When it comes to more complex applications in this emerging wearable tech space (for example, sensingresponding, highly connected yet ‘invisible’ wear), there exists a subtle weak signal of what may lie ahead. There is a need for a highly usable platform and the possible solutions are many. “A spaser is effectively a nanoscale laser or nanolaser. It emits a beam of light through the vibration of free electrons, rather than the space-consuming electromagnetic wave emission process of a traditional laser.” “Because of these properties, there is the possibility that in the future an extremely thin mobile phone could be printed on clothing.” At MAS, we could easily build a solid and stylish platform technology. We have already got one foot through the door, as a cutting-edge apparel manufacturer. Clothes are an everyday necessity, yet tapping into them as a massscale medium for technology is a barrier to entry for most. Think of Sri Lanka Telecom, or Dialog. They provide an ever-expanding network, with good data rates and affordable prices. From there, people and enterprises get creative on how to use these networks to suit their needs, propelling the network and its applications forward. Property of MAS Innovation
