MWC: What is your favorite animal to hunt?

Randy: While 90% of my time is spent out in the woods with the deer, I really love waterfowl, sika, and I’ve recently been introduced to turkeys. I haven’t been fortunate enough yet to even shoot at a turkey, but I’ve come close and the feeling is unbelievable!

MWC: Does any of your family hunt or fish?.

Randy: My father and oldest daughter.

MWC: Do you have any hunting goals or plans for the immediate future?

Randy: I wouldn’t call them goals because there’s too much that I cannot control, but I’d love to be able to continually shoot bigger deer each year, but as we all know that’s not really possible. Fingers crossed!

MWC: Where is the one place you would really just love to hunt?

Randy: IOWA - Whitetail, New Mexico - Elk, Wyoming - Antelope, Yukon - Moose, and Alberta - Bear.

MWC: Do you primarily hunt private or public ground?.

Randy: Private, but I’m not opposed to venturing onto public land, depending on the circumstances.

MWC: Do you normally use anything like scent covers or attractants, or calls? Rattles, cover scents?

Randy: I’ve found, for me, that Buck Bomb during the rut has proven most successful, and rattling as well. I haven’t dabbled too much with cover scents, though.

MWC: Do you do any small game or waterfowl hunting?

Randy: I wouldn’t say that I small game “hunt”, but I shoot my fair share of squirrels while in the deer woods. As for waterfowl, I really enjoy the atmosphere with friends and the ability to interact with each other as well as the birds. Unfortunately, I do not get to waterfowl hunt as much as I’d like.

MWC: Tell us what your dream hunt would be.

Randy: For some reason, I’ve always wanted to hunt antelope out of a blind over a waterhole? Not really sure why, because I usually prefer not to hunt from blinds! But, more importantly to me, I would really enjoy a group hunt with a few friends going out of state.

It really wouldn’t matter what we were hunting!
