Maizie is a 15-year-old entrepreneur, attending birthday parties and community events as ‘Your Everyday Princess’ and setting up campaigns for fundraising and charity events on her own time. This holiday season Maizie will be working along with Chloe Novakovski as Christmas princesses and will also be joined with the Child and Youth Advocate of Saskatchewan, Corey O’Soup. The princesses are in the midst of organizing a Christmas event at the Friendship Inn for this upcoming December 17th. The girls are currently accepting donations of diapers, formulas, non-perishables and other necessities which will be distributed to the underprivileged at the Inn. O’Soup volunteered to play an important role in this event, and will be attending the Campaign as Santa. O’Soup is a close family friend of Maizies’, so when she asked him if he would be interested in this role, O’Soup was quick to respond. “I will do anything I can to support Maizie with what she does, so I would be honoured to be Santa at this event,” stated O’Soup. “It was a no-brainer for me to ask Corey to help us out with the Christmas Princess Campaign. After seeing how passionate he is about his own children as well as those across Saskatchewan, he will make the perfect Santa,” stated Maizie. Many facilities were called around Saskatoon and Bowkowy quickly became emotional as she heard about the many children who fall beneath the poverty line around Saskatchewan. The children quickly had her heart and Maizie’s fundraising began to target the underprivileged children of our surrounding communities. With Christmas just around the corner, these princesses aspire to work very hard in order to show some of these children what might be their very first Christmas. “It hurt to learn that many of these children have never had a chance to sit on Santa’s knee, let alone get a picture with him,” mentioned Bowkowy. Maizie desires to be able to make magical and lasting memories for these children. Maizie is not only interested in giving herself, but also in inspiring others to do the same, particularly the youth in our community. “I believe all youth to have the capability to do great things. I challenge the youth of Martensville to get on board with me, brainstorm with me, and to get on this campaign with me to make this mission huge,” voiced Bowkowy. “I am living proof that when you do great things, you feel great and great things will happen to you.” O’Soup also agreed to speak with Martensville High School on behalf of the Christmas campaign in the hopes of encouraging youth to get involved. “I agreed to speak with the Martensville High School to try and encourage students to take some time to play a part in giving this Holiday season,” informed O’Soup. This campaign along with every campaign will be completely non-profit. All proceeds and donations will go right back to the families who need it. There will also be Christmas glitter tattoos to bring out some spirit this holiday season. “I hope that businesses invite us to do these Christmas tattoos with ‘Your Everyday Princess’ to help people realize the true meaning of Christmas, which is giving”, stated Bowkowy. Maizie will also be putting 25% of her money earned through ‘Your Everyday Princess’ from now until December 15th towards the campaign. These selfless acts do not go unrewarded as Maizie states that there is no better feeling than giving, and that should be reward in itself for anyone.
