SPORTS rush tally Fourth straight Win

Janine Hayward , Martensville Messenger
The Saskatoon Rush lacrosse team travelled to Rochester , New York to face the Knighthawks and tallied their fourth straight win by a score of 21-12 . Eric Church and Mark Matthews lead the way again with 4 goals a piece . The Rush came on hard in the second half scoring 14 goals to take a commanding lead . Marty Dinsdale opened scoring for the Rush only 37 seconds into the game . This is only the second time in franchise history that the team broke the 20 plus goal mark .
Aaron Bold held the Knighthawks to 4 goals in the second half turning away 35 shots . It was not a great night for 5 time NLL Goaltender of the Year , Matt Vinc as the Knighthawks replaced him in the third quarter with backup Angus Goodleaf . Things didn ’ t bode well for Goodleaf as the Rush found the net 8 more times after replacing Vinc . The win has put them at the top of the West Division standings over Colorado .
The team is back home on February 18 when they host the Colorado Mammoth . The Rush will be celebrating ‘ Fan Appreciation Night ’ at this next home game and will be giving a car to a lucky College Student . The contest is open to all post-secondary students in the province of Saskatchewan . Check their facebook page to find out how to enter to win !
They also host February 25 when their rival Calgary Roughnecks come to town . This is TD ’ s Children ’ s Hospital Night and the Rush are excited to announce that an award-winning band hailing from Saskatoon , One Bad Son , will headline . They have opened for Def Leppard and Judas Priest . They are performing two of their hits pre-game and three more songs at half time . Come on out and cheer on your Rush .
