The power line was taken down when a boom truck, driving with their machinery lifted, caught the line. Members of the local RCMP, Martensville Fire Department and SaskPower were on site, ensuring the situation was quickly under control and vehicles and pedestrian traffic was restricted in the area. Staff at Valley Manor School instructed parents to pick up their children at lunch, as the school was forced to be without power for the remainder of the day until SaskPower crews could resolve the situation. Many parents were pleased with the quick and organized methods that Valley Manor Elementary School had in place in order to notify parents. Some comments made by parents of students included; “Terrific response time”, “Shout out to Valley Manor for their communication system to inform parents. Both my husband and I had texts, emails and phone calls coming to our cell phones”, and “Love their communication. We just moved here and although I missed the first half of the message, with the email and texts I wasn't left not knowing what was going on.” According to members of the Martensville Fire Department, the situation could have been far worse, and thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. SaskPower was on site for the majority of the day, and was able to regain power to the majority of residents by 5pm, however approximately 100 south end residents were without power until later that night. ABOVE: SaskPower was at the site of the accident and quickly went to work in order to restore power to Martensville residents. On Tuesday, April 19th, Martensville City Council approved an update to the Kinsmen Park Master Plan presented by Crosby Hanna and Associates. The plan is in Phase One of four and will focus on connecting walkways throughout the park and reclaiming green space along 10th Avenue North. The area of the park along 10th Avenue hasn’t been developed yet; however, with 10th Avenue now being paved the City hopes to landscape and reclaim the ground. The people living in Lake Vista will see pathways that connect to the rest of
