Divorce Rates Among children

with Divorced Parents

Philpott, Shannon. "The Effect of Divorced Parents on a Child's Future Relationships." Mom.me. Berman Braun, 2013. Web. 12 Dec. 2013.

It may come as surpirse to many, but statistics have repeatedily shown the same stifiling statisitcs in regards to children with divorced parents. According to a psychotherapist Christina Stienorth and a vast majority of studies, girls of divorced parents are 60% more likely to get a divorce themselves, while boys of divorced parents are 35% more likely. Stienorth believes, "Part of this reason is that when parents are divororced it seems to send a message in a non-direct way that divorce is acceptable" (Philpott, 1). The emotional damage is there as well. A child of divorced parents may have a tendency to have anxiety when falling into a relationship for fear of seperation or failure. After experiencing the failure of their own parents relationship these children often hold a negative and pessimistic view in regards to forming their own relationships.
