Moving from Primary School to Secondary School
Written by Alistair Hunter , S2 Marr College is very different to my old school because there are :
• More subjects
• More Classrooms
• More people
• More area to roam around
• More friends
• More opportunities
The teachers are a lot more interesting to talk to and the days are more fun .
Rights and Equality
Written by Holly Neil , S2 Back in primary school I was pretty un-educated about certain things , such as : LGBTQ +, Racism , Inequality , etc . Now I ' m really up to date with these problems . Since we have classes separate to the sitting in one room all day with the same teacher . In Marr I have learned about black history , slavery and they do their best to try and introduce a diverse amount of role models . I ' m sitting here right now questioning why we didn ’ t learn about these massive problems , and I can ' t seem to justify it ? Mentioning LGBTQ + was awkward , as many teachers weren ' t experienced for that topic .
I am an absolute feminist , but I never grew up with the ambitious appetite for speaking out . In primary school equality wasn ’ t really looked at , but when it was there was always “ we ' re getting better " & " there are more options for girls ". But in geography for instance , when you really look at the world as a whole ... there isn ' t really that much of a different . Primary school had its ups too though !
I was very proud to use my new skills and knowledge to be asked to be involved in Marr getting the Silver Rights Respecting School Award and the Digital Schools Award ! I took part in both meetings to share my views and experiences and was delighted when we achieved both awards .
