We had the pleasure of interviewing Jessica Bowie ( S3 ) to ask her about her amazing achievement of a gold medal in boccia which is a precision ball sport , similar to bocce , and related to bowls and pétanque .
Q : Hi Jessica , first of congratulations on your win ! What medal did you win ? A : A gold medal .
Q : Tell me a bit about the sport A : Boccia is a multiplayer disability sport which involves 6 blue , 6 red balls and a white ball which is called the jack . The aim of the game is to get your colour balls closest to the jack and whoever gets their ball closest to the jack is the winner .
Q : Who do you train with ? How often ? A : I train with Paralympians Jamie McCowan Kayleigh Haggo on Tuesdays , Wednesdays , Fridays and Sundays .
Q : What do you like best about competing ? A : The tactics of the sport .
Q : When is your next match ? A : It ’ s on the 8th October for the Scottish Boccia Open Championships in Edinburgh !
