Issue Number 04 | November 2019 Micro Tyco Challenge Our S2 Business students have been working on the Micro Tyco Challenge – they will be working in teams to set up their own social enterprises offering products and services throughout the month of November. All profits created through Micro-Tyco are invested by WildHearts in micro- loans for entrepreneurs in the developing world. This has helped communities in areas such as: Malawi, Uganda, Haiti and Ghana. Young Enterprise Team The Business Department have 6 senior students taking part in Young Enterprise Scotland this year. The group are well underway with their business idea – ‘Straws r Us’. Their product is a foldable metal straw complete with container and cleaning brush. You are also able to have containers personalised with either your full name or initials. Containers come in 4 different colours pink, blue, green and black. Students are keen to ‘save the planet one straw at a time’. Students will be selling straws in school, during parents’ nights and at Wintertainment. For more information 11 DYW Launch In September the school successfully launched several projects funded by Developing Young Workforce (DYW) Ayrshire and the Princes Trust Scotland. Marr projects include Rural Skills, Cycle Maintenance, Nail Bar and Barista. Through these projects we aim to support identified young people to overcome the challenges of becoming work ready, preparing them for the transition between education and employment.
