Issue Number 11 | March 2021
Young Reporters for the Environment
( YRE ) is a competition that supports young people to research environmental issues that they care about and promote solutions through investigative reporting , photography and video journalism .
This year , as part of Scotland ’ s Year of Coasts and Waters , YRE has teamed up with our My Beach Your Beach campaign to help you learn about bathing water quality and consider the importance of taking better care of your local beach at campaign sites : Ayr , Troon , Irvine , Kinghorn , Portobello and Fisherrow Sands beaches . Saltcoats / Ardrossan is joining the campaign in 2021 .
The task is to choose your favourite thing about your local beach , explain how it can be impacted by an environmental issue and present solutions to help protect it . The deadline for submission is the 11th of June , but feel free to enter before then ! For further information , speak to Mr Mills .
