We are delighted to have Eva Mackinnon ( S3 ) join the School Student News Team this year – she came up with the great idea of interviewing members of the Marr College staff to help students get to know their teachers better . She thought this would be especially helpful for new members of staff .
Introducing Miss Frew !
Hello everyone , I hope all is well . Meet Miss J Frew , our new History teacher at Marr College . Miss Frew is a newly qualified teacher from Muir Kirk , a small village in East Ayrshire .
Miss Frew wanted to become a History Teacher as she loved it in fourth year because she had a funny and helpful teacher and also that she had great grades . She loves that there is no right or wrong answer in History and that it is all about people and their stories . Miss Frew loves to teach about the Suffragettes , which is about women protesting for their rights during the early 1900s .
Miss Frew is only at Marr for her probation year , so who knows where her next adventure will be ! In her spare time , she loves to go out with her friends for lunch and walking her Yorkshire terrier ! Miss Frew would like to say she is very happy and privileged to be at Marr .
A Day in the Life !
I thought it would be a cool idea to show everyone what a typical day looks like for a teacher here at Marr . As Miss Walker went on maternity leave last month , Miss Madden took her place as guidance teacher for Welbeck house . Below is a typical day for Miss Madden :
6am - wake up and first coffee of the day !
7:30am - leave home and drive to work
8am - open laptop and read the first emails of the day
8:40am - stand at the doors and welcome the lovely Welbeck pupils into school .
9am - teaching PSE
10:30am - break and another coffee ! Then back in teaching classes .
12:30pm - lunchtime then in teaching classes or following up with pupils
2:50pm - read some more emails
3:30pm - leave work and nursery pick up
5pm - make and eat dinner and then tidy up
5:30pm - plan lessons for the next day and then relax !
