Young Weir-Wise-Discovering Engineering with S2 Girls

Olivia Dearing and Rachel Fisher in S2 have been successful in their application for the University of Strathclyde ’ s “ Young Weir-Wise-Discovering Engineering with S2 Girls ” event – a hugely popular event with stiff competition for places . For more info see : https :// www . strath . ac . uk / engineering / outreach / weir-wise /
They are also well on their way to achieving their Third Level Young STEM Leader Award along with a pleasing number of fellow S2 candidates following a successful pilot of the Award . The aspiring Young STEM Leaders have been busy leading and inspiring other pupils by teaching them and demonstrating chosen fun and engaging activities . Young STEM Leader is a nationally recognised award which aims to spark greater interest and participation in Science , Technology , Engineering and Mathematics ( STEM ) among young people in Scotland https :// www . youngstemleader . scot /.
The Award will be available for S3 pupils at Fourth Level ( Formal , equivalent to National 4 ) as a Skills Elective from January . We encourage all S3 pupils to consider this option , based on the positive experiences our S2 Young STEM Leaders have had .
