It's that time of year again when we invite the parents into the classroom to catch a glimpse of a day in their child's shoes. Most often this entails creating a power point presentation with information about grading policies, rules and expectations, and an overview of the curriculum. While these presentations are brimming with "need to know" basics, they can also be quite boring. Multiply that by 7 or even 8, and parents are in for a night of slide after boring slide. What if we were to change this experience up for these parents? What if they really saw what it was like to be in our classrooms? This year, let's show parents the creative ways we present information to our students, incorporate technology into our lessons, and how we get our students truly excited about learning.
