Q & A Aunt Mildred's Little List Of Lessons Hello Sweethearts Isn’t it nice when you pick up a quirky wee trick or two here and there, these are some that could come in handy when you least expect it. • Does your child have an annoyingly loud toy? Just place a piece of clear tape or craft glue over the speaker. The sound will still play but won’t have that high pitch ear splitting level to it. • Want your child to have a perfect smile during a photoshoot? Ask them to tell you a joke but they should absolutely not laugh while telling it. Perfect natural smiles every time. • Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want feel. Energies are contagious. • Try baking cookies in a muffin tray. They’ll be softer, fluffier and never spread into each other. • If someone does a good job for you and you are asked to do a survey, do it. Their bonus may depend on it. Be well. Aunt Mildred Lifestyle & Wellbeing Q A I feel like I’m an outsider. I can’t seem to make friendships last. How do I know if it’s me or them? It’s difficult to make a judgement call on that question without knowing more, so I would say to think about the circumstances that your friendships seem to end on. Do your friends not answer your calls? Are you at a loss for making conversation with this person? Do you feel excluded from friendship groups? All of these questions have different answers. Perhaps, it’s just timing. It takes a bit of confidence to show up and meet new people, and sometimes you have to go that little bit extra to be a new part of an old group. Book clubs, yoga classes, volunteer groups often go for coffee together. PS It’s never going to be easy to meet people who all have the same values, free time, and sense of humour etc, so be flexible and learn to love the differences in everyone. Q A How can I boost my immune system to promote healing? Q A How do I know if my health issues are relevant or just in my head? I have been unwell for a few years but the symptoms seem to come and go. I hesitate to bring them up now because my friends and family seem bored by my problems. H Y I’ve been in the same boat before! Get out there and get a second, third, fourth and if needed fifth opinion from reliable health professionals. You need people that are not emotionally involved with you to help you. Either way, you need to get the right answers. Mental or physical, where health issues are concerned, don’t give up. Q A I want to go to the gym and get fit. My problem is that I am worried about what people will think of me and how they will judge me because of my size and lack of fitness. C C CC, you’ve already taken the first step by creating a desire to go to the gym. Step 2 is to go in and have a look around. Most gyms will give you a free session with a personal trainer to acquaint yourself with the equipment. Also, we are so lucky here in Blenheim because there are many private gyms that are affordable. You have to pay the PT for the session, however they don’t have the big overhead so the prices are reasonable. That could be a good way to start exercising until you are ready to be on your own in a bigger gym. Welcome to t&t Lifestyle and Wellbeing Q&A HAVE A QUESTION FOR OUR LOCAL EXPERT?
