The Marlborough
Women’s Triathlon
will be held for
the 36th time
this November.
Being New Zealand’s first women-
only triathlon, the event has
a history of being a fun-filled
participation event, whether as a
first-time competitor or experienced
multi-sport athlete.
Event sponsors, The Sisters Wines,
are back supporting the event this
year. Group Marketing Manager
for Lawson’s Dry Hills, Belinda
Jackson, was a first-time participant
in the Women’s Tri in 2016. “It’s
a great association for The Sisters
brand”, says Jackson. “We’re about
celebrating achievement, and
we know that for many women,
completing the Women’s Tri is an
extraordinary achievement.
Unlike traditional triathlons, the
Marlborough Women’s Triathlon is
run in reverse order; starting with
a run/walk, leading into a cycle
and finishing with a short swim at
Stadium 2000.
Entrants are of all ages, with
youngest competitors being only
10 years old and the oldest usually
somewhere over 70. In fact, the
trophy for the oldest competitor
was won in 2017 by Pamela Pullar,
at 72 years young!
