The informal meandering path

Meandering garden paths are perfect for a large space, where you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination. They have some sort of edging, and the walkway itself is natural sand, or filled with a material like bark or gravel.

Start by planning your path, using natural curves and a repetition of curves. Then remove the sod, if relevant, or level the path. Once you’ ve set your first curve, try to keep the rest consistent in scale, as this adds to the natural, eye-pleasing effect. It’ s always a good idea to use a stick that’ s been cut to the width of the path as a guide when making your path and setting the edging. This way you can be sure your path remains neat and uniform all the way.

Once the outline is done, roll out landscape fabric such as Weed Gard( available at Agrimark) to cover the entire path. This helps prevent weeds and keeps the path material from mixing with the soil— something that can easily happen after rain, raking or cleaning. Avoid using plastic, as it traps water
