We arrive at Graham Caldecott’ s farm, The Plains, at the time when a dairy farmer usually takes a power nap after the long morning shift and his first milking session of the day.
“ Yes, that’ s true. We get up at about 04:30 every morning, and by this time, it is time for a little recharging,” Graham greets us.
“ The past two months have been tough since my manager left for greener pastures – this time in Donald Trump’ s USA and his South African refugee programme. In his defence, he has worked in the USA before and hopes to build a better future for himself there. It has placed a lot of pressure back on me. I haven’ t had a day off since 25 January and am running flat out, but I believe things will ease soon,” he says.
