BusyBend is an understatement – especially if you are on your way to visit the Taylor family on this somewhat remote farm in the Mooi River area. Although Mooi River is only about 30 km away as the crow flies, by road it takes considerable time and some special driving skills to get to the farm homestead.
Along the way, herds of Brahman cattle graze across the grasslands. These parts of the otherwise wet Natal Midlands are difficult to farm due to a much drier climate than on the other side of the N3 highway to Johannesburg. Yet, for Kevin Taylor, his wife Sue, and their son Bruce, BusyBend is more than just a farm – it is home, legacy and livelihood. Together, they represent the third and fourth generations to farm this land.
