She tries to share her new knowledge with traditional farmers , but often they resist and insist on farming according to the ways of old . Furthermore , the costs of implementing new practices are prohibitive with expensive fertilisers and vaccination programs .

“ I think some people don ’ t want to get out of their comfort zone . However , other people have heard of me and I am often approached for guidance . And that transformation is not only for my own family but also for everyone in South Africa .”

All Nontando had to do , was put her skills into practice . And she did just that . Hiring an established piggery from Jankoskie Frank on the farm Gelukwaartz ( subsequently purchased by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform ), she named her enterprise Ndalo kaBawo , which translates to ‘ God ’ s Creation ’ ( no doubt with a little help from Nontando ).
