Once the wax has melted completely , you can turn off the heat and add in any fragrance oils if you have decided to create scented candles . Clean any little bits of dried cement from inside the container that may have hardened there , so that you have a clean surface for the wax . Place your wick in the centre of the container , by tying it over a pencil or chopstick and then resting the chopstick over the centre top of the container . Carefully pour your wax into the container , to about 8cm from the top and leave it to set . Once the wax has completely cooled and hardened , untie and discard the pencil or chopstick to release the top of the wick , cut slits all around the top edge of the plastic container and carefully remove it to reveal your candle . You can then trim your wick , sand down any rough cement edges and wipe the candle part down .
