Protect your tools
Protect your garden tools by giving them a good wipe with a disinfectant and making sure they are completely dry before storing them somewhere dry .
other problems like leaks in the house , and erosion in the soil below , if water is left to pour onto the soil .
Protect the house
If you are concerned about water coming into the house , make sandbags using polypropylene , hessian or strong plastic bags . Then use the sandbags to direct rainfall from any concrete surfaces into your garden – preferably towards the channel you dug ! You can also dig broad but quite shallow trenches around areas of concrete and fill them with gravel or stones to help prevent waterlogging .
Check structures too – any
GARDEN ZONE fencing you made with bamboo or latte might need to be reinforced , especially if they have become very wet and have started to rot .
Spike the lawn
In between wet spells , you might also want to use the garden fork or pitchfork to spike the lawn to help water infiltration . It is best not to do this with clay soils , with clay soils or completely waterlogged lawns .
Check your trees
If you haven ’ t done so already , check any big trees for vulnerability . As mentioned before , cover any
