its effectiveness at protecting the dog from the elements . Best is to trim the long hair on the feet , on the hocks and under the pads , as well as the pants area , to prevent too much dirt clinging to the coat .
Border collies are considered average shedders and can be brushed weekly , with regular nail trimming too . Either let a vet show you the proper trimming method or have a professional do it . It ’ s very easy to accidently cut the quick and cause problems for your dog . As for bathing , they can do with a bath every so often , but only if they start to look really dirty or give off a smell .
