Ticks: protect pets, manage the garden edge, and act fast
Ticks are often a“ garden and pet” problem that becomes a human problem. Keep lawns trimmed, reduce long grass and dense groundcover near paths, and avoid letting pets roam through thick vegetation where ticks wait on stems to latch on. The most important step is pet protection: consistent tick control products for dogs and cats are non-negotiable in high-tick areas. Check pets after walks, especially around ears, necks, under collars, between toes and under the tail. Also check clothing cuffs and socks after gardening or hiking.
