Shake the tray for a few minutes , then tap a few times on a hard surface – this is to remove any air bubbles trapped in the mix . Evenly spread the glass or mosaic pieces over the wet cement , using your ( cleaned ) finishing trowel to press the glass pieces down slightly and smooth the surface . Doing so will create a thin film of cement over the glass to be sanded down later . Leave for about 24 hours to partially set , before sanding the tabletop with medium- to coarse-grit sandpaper to remove the top film of cement and reveal the glass or mosaic . Next sand with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth . Wait another 24 hours or until the cement is completely set , before thoroughly cleaning off any remaining dust . You can use a hairdryer or clean paintbrush to make sure all the dust is removed . Apply two coats of food-safe concrete countertop sealer in a wellventilated area , allowing it to dry properly between coats . Your table is now ready to find its place in your home . Add a lamp , books or a plant to bring the table to life .
