HARVESTING SEEDS
Choose the healthiest and most productive plants from which to save seeds . These plants should exhibit the traits you want to preserve , such as size , flavour , and disease resistance . Allow the fruits to fully ripen on the plant . This often means leaving them on the plant longer than you would for eating . For example , tomatoes should be very ripe , cucumbers should turn yellow , and peppers should be fully red , yellow , or orange .
