on the distance they have to fly . Bees have a sack in which they carry the nectar . If they fly a mere 200 metres , they burn almost no fuel . But in the case of two kilometres , they burn way more fuel and will have almost no nectar left when they return to the hive .”

According to Deon , the optimal distance to make sense when calculating the fuel used and the nectar returned to the hive is 400 metres to get back to the hive .
