MEET Ted Lahey
Since launching his first maritime-related enterprise in high school, a scuba
diving/salvage business, Ted Lahey has made a lifetime commitment to the
marine and yachting industry. Post-college, he was employed by a Connecticut-
based yacht rigging company that gave him access to some of the most
competitive race boat programs on the East Coast.
Ted continues to be a competitive sailor, having joined the New York Yacht
Club (RI), Nantucket Yacht Club (MA), and Pequot Yacht Club (CT). His sense
of entrepreneurialism and passion for the industry was further cemented
with the purchase of Essex Boat Works in 1993. His 23 years at the helm
there taught Ted the value of building and maintaining client relationships,
successful employee management, dedication, and hard work.
Most recently, Ted transitioned from the service-oriented business to yacht
sales with The Hinckley Co., working directly with the CEO to successfully
open and operate a new Connecticut office in 2015. He also added significant
value to the company by selling at least one new yacht each quarter for over
two years while he was there.
This experience, coupled with his industry knowledge and connections, gives
Ted a definitive advantage in making the yacht buying /selling experience
