7. Keep It Light
At the end of the day, social media is social media. People like to get on to catch up with the world and feel connected to the world. They don't want to be bombarded with serious, constant marketing. Keep it light. Keep it fun. Social media is supposed to be social and fun! Adjust content to be light-hearted and somewhat care-free. Stay up-beat and positive.
6. Measure Social Media
Measure your success on social media regularly. The type of measurement should be decided in your initial plan. Anything can be measured. Shares, click-through rates, conversion rates, and traffic from social media to your website can all be measured. It is important to measure your social media activity in order to determine how well your image is coming across.
8. Keep an Eye on Competitors
Remember the high school analogy, well it's the same concept. You want to know what is going with your competitors! You want to what they are saying, what they're saying about you, and what other people are saying about them. Stay connected with competitors so you can be informed about what they are doing and attempt to stay ahead of all competition.
9. Stay Consistent
If you chose to have mutliple social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram to name a few, make sure your content is consistent across all accounts. If you say something on one account, do not counteract it with content in another account. You will reach different audiences through each account. Being consistent helps tell your story and create stability.
10. Keep Your Audience Interested
The obvious step that is sometimes overlooked is to keep your audience interested. Share fun facts or trivia to engage people. Ask questions, have contests, and ask for opinions so that your followers can stay connected to you and your company. The more interested they are, the more relevant your company and social media will be!
