SPIRITOFMATH.COM The New Norm? Releasing The Genius ® Moves Classrooms Online CLIENT-PARTNER FEATURE: SPIRIT OF MATH F For many educational institutions, facility closures and the transition to online delivery have been abrupt and disorganized, but Client-Partner Spirit of Math has made it look easy. A revered after-school program addressing the needs of high-performing students in grades K to 11, Spirit of Math Schools have been Releasing the Genius® in this demographic for over 30 years. The award-winning program has been consistently placing students on national and international mathematics honor rolls since 1992. Alumni have obtained scholarships with some of North America’s top universities. Where the traditional school system focuses on assisting students to reach academic goals, the Releasing the Genius initiative advances the learning of top-performing students to unlock their full academic potential. In response to current events, Spirit of Math was able to successfully execute an efficient and complete transition to online classes. Its dedicated teachers have quickly developed strategies for communicating effectively with parents regarding changes in delivery and holding the attention of students while teaching in unfamiliar virtual classrooms. The collaborative core values and polished structure of the Spirit of Math system have been infused into its digital workspace. Excellent feedback has been received from parents who are well impressed by the handling of the program’s transition to online classes. The program website makes access to an interactive online community available through a private online forum. Contributors can share questions, reviews, testimonials, and read compelling content from industry experts. This existing online space has now enabled the community to seek answers and receive support quickly through internal channels. While the abrupt closure of educational institutions across North America left many students and educators with little idea of how to go forward, Spirit of Math Schools were able to offer timely and confident management of the crisis for their educational community while extending further support to those in need. Spirit of Math has made actively engaging its audience via social media a priority. Targeted Facebook content includes information on the layout of the Spirit of Math online interface, the benefits of online learning, how teachers and administrators are adapting delivery methods to more effectively relay concepts online, and community initiatives that the program is contributing to. Spirit of Math Schools are helping to bridge the physical gap in the academic community by frequently sharing personal testimonials from parents and students about their online experiences. The company is also continuing to publish its Release the Genius Magazine in digital format, including a feature on youth involvement in sustainable development, responding to climate recovery as a key point of interest throughout the pandemic. Spirit of Math has teamed up with Hand Up Toronto to distribute hundreds of hot breakfasts to families in need during this time. Delivering a quality marketing and communications initiative while simultaneously facilitating the transition to an online framework may seem like an unthinkable feat. But, with the support of Tulip Media Group, Spirit of Math was able to focus on the importance of delivering quality education to its students while letting the team coordinate delivery of the marketing message.
