MONA KAREL (Cont.)
INTERVIEW
MFRW: Would you like to write a different genre or sub
-genre than you do now?
MK: A Question of Trust... Stormhaven shelters bat-
tered hearts and shattered souls, and not many
are more battered than Lana, who has accepted
condemnation to keep children at risk safe.
Adam Roberts, who lost part of his leg and
most of his soul in service to his country, rec-
ognizes the vulnerable woman inside the per-
sona.
MK: I’ve written fantasy, romantic suspense, and
women’s fiction. for right now I’m sticking
with the romantic suspense, but that doesn’t
mean I can’t bust out in another direction.
MFRW: Generally, how long does it take you to write a
book? MFRW: Among your own books, do you have a favorite
book? Favorite hero or heroine?
MK: Anywhere from four months to darned near
forever. MK: MFRW: What are your thoughts on love scenes in ro-
mance novels? My favorite book tends to be the one I’m plan-
ning. The one I’m working on is all too often
more of a battlefield than a companion. Favor-
ite character, hands down, Rosalind Summer-
ton (Question of Faith) She says what I wish I
could.
MK: For me emotional and physical intimacy is a
critical part of any relationship, whether in a
book or in life. MFRW: Are you in control of your characters or do
they control you?
What can we expect from you in the future? MK: They let me think I control them, but they run
away with the story at every opportunity.
