JEANNE ST. JAMES (Cont.)
INTERVIEW
MFRW: Do you feel humor is important in fiction
and why? MFRW: If you came with a warning label, what
would it say?
JSJ: Yes, I do. I like to add humor to my stories
(it’s just part of my personality). A couple
days ago I received an email from one of
my readers who is 67 years old and is
wheelchair bound. She said she laughed so
hard while reading Brothers in Blue: Marc
that the person who lives above her called
to check on her. That made me smile. JSJ: Warning: Opinionated, highly motivated,
and extremely determined!
MFRW: If I were a first-time reader of your books,
which one would you recommend I start
with and why?
JSJ: My Brothers in Blue series. The series
really showcases my voice. I write erotic
romance, so my books are explicit, but this
series also shows a lot of my humor. And
all three brothers are Alpha, which is my
preference.
MFRW: Are you in control of your characters or do
they control you?
JSJ: I’m a pantser, so my characters control me.
I start out with a premise, but as I write,
the characters and their actions direct the
story. Sometimes I’m surprised where they
lead me.
MFRW: What can we expect from you in the fu-
ture?
JSJ: Since I just finished the Brothers in Blue
series (Matt’s story comes out this month
and Teddy’s novella comes out in July), I’ll
be writing the fourth book in The Dare
Ménage series soon. I will also be publish-
ing the first book in my new Obsessed se-
ries in May. And I’ll be starting a new MC
series this fall. Plus, I have a re-release
scheduled in a boxed set in September. I
may slip a couple more novellas in there,
too.
