VICKI BATMAN (Cont.) INTERVIEW MFRW: VICKI: MFRW: VICKI: How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing? A lot!!! Definitely my humor. And lots of my heroines drive Jeeps and carry hand- bags and eat chocolate and drink cham- pagne cocktails. Sometimes, pajamas, little black dresses, and silly situations. Often, what people say starts my stories. Who are some of your other favorite au- thors to read? Favorite books? Favorite series? Who, if anyone, has influenced your writing? I grew up with the standards of the Bobb- sey Twins and Nancy Drew, and at age fourteen, I discovered Emilie Loring and Mary Stewart romances, as well as Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. When I found Dick Francis’s mysteries, I finally confessed to Handsome how I wished I could write like him. Janet Evanovich cemented my love for humor in fun stories. Thankfully, someone informed me so I could fix it! The funniest was taking puppets of two friends to a Janet E. signing and everyone commented and noticed, even when we walked into a restaurant. Lots of silly pho- tos involved. As for dangerous—my first time ziplining was a little nervy for me. Pretty high up with bridges over ravines. However, I never told anyone how I felt and truly loved every second. MFRW: VICKI: MFRW: VICKI: MFRW: VICKI: 5 Wh at’s your most embarrassing experi- ence? Funniest? Most dangerous? The most recent embarrassing one was the classic toilet paper hanging out the pants kind. How many books have you written, and how many have been published? I have written two romantic comedy mys- teries and have had about thirty-five short stories and essays published. What do you hope readers take with them after reading your work? That they like my work and want to read more! Editor’s Note: I don’t think that’ll be a problem. I love Ms. Batman’s writing.
