An Excerpt
On New Year’s Eve, Abe arrived at Angela’s shortly after
her last student of the day left her house.
“I’m sorry I’m not quite ready to go yet,” Angela said after
greeting him with a hug and kiss. “Make yourself comfortable
while I get dressed.”
She hurried upstairs and changed into a lavender dress. After
fixing her hair and makeup, she joined Abe on the couch where
he was watching television.
“Wow. You’re a stunner,” he said, rising to his feet to stare
at her.
His words and the expression in his eyes her warmed Angela
in a way she’d never felt before.
“Thank you, Abe. I’ll just be a minute. I have to get the cup-
cakes I baked, and then we can leave.”
Angela stepped into the kitchen. She had just finished cover-
ing the tray of chocolate cupcakes when Abe slid his arms
around her from behind.
