How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing ?
The only book I have written is my memoir so I ’ d say the whole 398 pages is about my personality and life experiences !

MFRW : What is your secret guilty pleasure ?
AF : Not so secret , I indulge in a daily chocolate ice cream cone …. but I eat it while pedaling my exercise bike ! That should count for something , shouldn ’ t it ??!!

Do your fans ’ comments and letters influence you in any way ? Do you have a favorite comment or question from a reader ? What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer ? What do you hope readers take with them after reading your work ?
Although it is very satisfying to receive stellar reviews , nothing has been as rewarding as the many letters I have received from readers who personally identified with traumatic events from my youth . In some cases , we have established an ongoing dialogue discussing both the event and the ensuing fallout . Here is one example :
“ The consensus of opinion by our book club members who have been reading “ I ’ ve Worn Many Hats ” is that it ’ s definitely not your average run of the mill memoir !!! Content spans a wide range including : humor , outrageous behavior , tragedy and redemption . Life experiences are laid out so honestly it was impossible not to identify with some of them . For the first time , one of our members shared her experience with rape that had occurred 32 years ago and was finally able to discuss the way it had affected her life . “
What else do I hope readers will take with them ? Of course I ’ d like the book to promote interest in my work with the children of Honduras . In the two years since publishing , my hopes have been realized and interest in our programs continues to grow ! The following reader has been helping with books for our children ’ s street library .
