An Excerpt
“ Be careful !” Tia called to the pups as they bounded down a path through the trees . Falling into step beside me , she shook her head . “ I worry they ’ ll find a bear and annoy it . They could lose an ear or an eye .”
Her mother instincts made me smile . We didn ’ t have pups of our own yet , but when we did , she ’ d be a fierce and loving mother .
“ Don ’ t worry , Tia . They ’ re making so much noise that any animal within a mile of them will disappear .”
That probably wasn ’ t a good thing . We ’ d have to work on that .
Just before reaching the village square , I lightly grasped Tia ’ s waist and tugged her into my arms for a kiss . “ I ’ ll be back in a couple of hours .”
