INTERVIEW

MFRW:
SK:
How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing? I write about lawyers in love, with a dash of kink. As a former lawyer, of course my personality and life experiences work their way into my stories. In addition, I spent more than twenty-five years in the legal world and in that time I was exposed to a broad range of people and situations. All of them are catalogued in my mind and work their way into my stories. However, my characters tend to be a mix of many different personalities. I pull out the most interesting quirks. Believe me, few of the lawyers were so interesting that they were worthy of having an entire character based on them.
MFRW: What kind of research do you do for a book? SK:
I spend a lot of time online, researching articles and visiting discussion groups. I also have some colleagues in the lifestyle who review stories when I have questions. Because I write about a somewhat sensitive topic( kink) I want to make sure I get it right.
MFRW:
Do you feel humor is important in fiction and why?

Humor is a part of life. In fact, I would venture to say it is a very important part of life. It affects your life view. I would be remiss if I ignored that in the stories I write. My characters tend to have a positive outlook on life, and that means I give them the ability to see the humor in most situations.
A biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in six words or less? Rediscovering Joy. I was diagnosed with MS in 2002, and that set me and my life back quite a bit. But I fought my way back because I chose to focus on the joy in life, not the misery.
If money were not an object, where would you most like to live? Tuscany on Lake Como. I would work with local chefs to refine my cooking skills rand visit the vineyards to sample the wines, then“ nest” in olive groves, reading hot romance.
